I don’t know the part of Old Testaments that blinded your mind, but I want you to IMMERSE yourself in the following scriptures, peradventure the Holy Spirit will illuminate your soul.
Isaiah Chapter 53
4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging, we are healed.
6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way, But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.
Was Jesus truly persecuted?
That is a good question, let’s observe few things together from the book of Mark maybe we can have a clue.
Mark Chapter 15
Verse15: Wishing to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.
Verse 16: The soldiers took Him away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium), and they called together the whole Roman cohort.
Verse 17: They dressed Him up in purple, and after twisting a crown of thorns, they put it on Him;
Verse 18: and they began to acclaim Him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
Verse 19: They kept beating His head with a reed, and spitting on Him, and kneeling and bowing before Him.
Verse 20: After they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they led Him out to crucify Him.
Verse 21: They pressed into service a passer-by coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and Rufus), to bear His cross.
Verse 33: When the sixth hour came, darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour.
Verse 34: At the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
Jesus passed through everything only for sinners like me and your sake, so that we can have total freedom.
Will you join the priests of our day in despising Christ too? If your answer is no, then you have to get out of the sidelines.
