”But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. 7 For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either. 8 If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. 1 Timothy 6:6-11.
Can Christ followers be contented in this world?
Of course yes! But how can they right now when their leaders are not?
It’s going to take the grace of God for the ones that He has called to honestly stand for that to happen in this our present generation.
One dictionary defines contentment as “the state of being mentally or emotionally satisfied with things as they are.”
Today it is scarce that we find anyone who is genuinely content with his or her condition in life.
A Contented Mind Will Not Borrow Money To Sow Seeds And Go Ahead To Buy Fake Visa To Travel.
The Bible has a great deal to say about contentment, being satisfied with what we have, who we are, and where we’re going and looking towards God’s divine lifting.
Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” Matthew 6:25.
What Jesus was telling His followers is to be content with what they have right now.
Moreover, He has earlier given them a direct command not to worry about the things of this world.
ARE CHRISTIANS TRULY FOLLOWING CHRIST COMMAND?
For instance, as we were thought from the Bible, aside from Godly upbringing, righteousness supposed to emanates from the body of Christ. But look around our societies today, many churches are the one that is destroying the fabrics of contentment in the lives of the ignorant children of God.
How can an Overseer be expecting all pastors of his or her franchise Churches to raise 20 million Naira each from their members before a Holy Ghost service meeting?
Though the ones in the city that are custodians of political thieves, armed robbers and kidnappers may be able to raise such amount with one or two political thieves in their churches.
But do you think someone preaching the truth of Christ in a rural area will be able to raise this amount of money? And we are all wondering why everybody wants to become rich at all cost.
Many people may see the speaking of atrocities of the so-called men of God, such as Pastor Adeboye, Oyedepo, Oritzejafor, Oyakilome, TB Joshua, Abiara, Okotie, Ashimolowo and many more as smiting them. But the truth is that they all knew that they are the ones that led and still leading many ignorant Christians in Nigeria into non-contentment/fraudulent lifestyle.
Many men of God are talking about ritualism, kidnapper, and thieves in political settings, are these group of people not some of the pastors from your Churches?
Are they not the ones that supposed to be impacting their community Or somewhat reducing the wave of fraudsters if indeed all these large camps and their followers are for God?
But instead, these camps are the ones breeding swindlers, ritualism, kidnappers and political robbers. Why can’t we reflect and think back on what Christianity or a Christian life supposed or used to be, instead of accumulating all these material things at the expense of the poor people? While many families are destroying, the large camps and “redemption” camps are springing forth from every corner only for business purposes.
Example of this is the Redeemed Christian Church of God, leading by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye. They will prefer to buy all the lands that the land grabbers have taken from their members to be selling it back to the best Tithers of the year and the influential political thieves in their midst rather than to rescue the ones that are in trouble of the land grabbers in their nation.
Unless our respectable men of God repent and make an essential amendment in their ways, our society may remain in a mess for a very long time.
Let’s forget about all this fallacy of quoting the scriptures by concluding everything to “the last day” scenario.
Does the scripture recommend that in the “last day” the Church Overseers should turn themselves to the custodians of thieves and ritualists?
Christians Need URGENT Revival.
